March 5 - With media interest extending to the National newspapers, the band play a sell-out show at the now legendary Moran's Hotel, Dublin.

"Both Television Screen and Love Detective outdistance most of the competition. the drumming is a powerful slice of rock 'n' roll, the bass is neat and modest and the guitars don't get carried away in their distorted frenzy. Maybe best of all, the engineering concentrates on the higher frequencies, giving the song real bite"

25 - Punk Festival at UCD, Dublin. The Radiators, The Undertones, Revolver, The Gamblers and The Vipers. At this concert Patrick Coultry (18) from Cabra, Dublin, was stabbed to death.
27 - Television Screen is at #17 in the Irish top twenty (this is its highest position)
July - The band spends the month recording with producer Roger Armstrong at Lombard Studios, Dublin. Promoters cancel gigs in the wake of the UCD tragedy.
